Who we are

Information we collect through this website

• Contact form: your name, email address, the service you are interested in, who referred you (optional) and your message.
• 50/50 claim form: your name, email address, the amount you paid for last year's personal tax return, your previous firm (optional), who referred you (optional) and any message.
• Referral form: your name and email address, and your friend's name, email or phone number and return type (optional).
• Calls and emails: whatever you choose to share when you contact us directly.

Please do not send your Social Insurance Number, tax slips or other sensitive documents through the forms on this website. We will give you a secure way to share them once you become a client.

Technical information

This website does not use cookies to track you, and we do not use advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when you visit. We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which show us overall search statistics and do not identify individual visitors.

How we use your information

• To reply to your questions and book discovery calls.
• To prepare quotes and confirm your eligibility for the 50/50 offer.
• To run the referral program, including contacting the person you referred about our services and crediting your reward.
• To provide the services you ask us for, and to meet our legal and professional obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Consent

By submitting a form or contacting us, you consent to us using your information for the purposes above. When you refer a friend, you confirm that they are happy for us to contact them. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual limits.

Service providers and storage outside Canada

We use trusted service providers to run this website and our communications. Form submissions are processed by our website host, Netlify, Inc., in the United States, and are sent to our business email, which is provided by Microsoft 365. Because of this, your information may be stored or processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of those countries.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law. Inquiries that do not lead to working together are deleted when they are no longer needed.

How we protect it

This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to the information you send us is limited to the people who need it to help you.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Contact Elham Alaghebandan at elham@thecountingpress.com or 819-593-7711. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Client information

Information you give us as a client, such as your tax documents, is kept confidential and used only to provide the services you ask for and as required by law.

Our website links to our Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn pages and to government websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
